Powerco is the second-largest distributor of electricity and gas in New Zealand, delivering energy through line and pipe networks across the country. The Challenge

Powerco faced challenges in gaining a consolidated view of its asset data against sensor information. Analysis of the data required exporting information to Excel, a manual process that was both inefficient and prone to errors. This slowed down Powerco’s ability to perform timely analysis, reducing the overall effectiveness of their performance monitoring and network management. With these limitations, Powerco sought a more integrated and reliable solution to improve the accuracy and speed of their asset and sensor data analysis.

The Solution

Adaptiv collaborated with Powerco to enhance the integration between their sensor data, hosted on the OSIsoft PI platform, and their asset and network hierarchy information stored in SAP, Powerco’s system of record. The goal was to automate and streamline data correlation, reducing the reliance on manual data exports.

Using Boomi’s Enterprise Platform, Adaptiv sourced Powerco’s asset data and correlated it with the sensor data from the PI platform. This allowed for the creation of a network hierarchy, ensuring that asset information and sensor data were consolidated, providing a real-time and accurate view of network performance. The automated integration significantly improved the timeliness and usefulness of Powerco’s data analysis, helping them make more informed decisions about network maintenance and asset management.
